There is a well known bug in the Flash Player plugin. When using mp3-Files with certain bitrates/frequencies, it plays the files too fast or too slow. In some extreme cases it doesn’t play the files at all. Macromedia still did not fix this bug. We can’t do anything about it, just wait and use rather common encoding options.
The big Flash compatiblity table!
(Please help! Post "good" and "bad" encoding combinations here. I’ll complete the table then)
8kHz 11,025kHz 22,05kHz 24kHz 32kHz 44,1kHz 48kHz ------------------------------------------------------------------- 16kb/s good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 24kb/s ------------------------------------------------------------------- 32kb/s bad ------------------------------------------------------------------- 40kb/s ------------------------------------------------------------------- 48kb/s good bad good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 56kb/s good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 64kb/s good good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 80kb/s good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 96kb/s good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 112kb/s ------------------------------------------------------------------- 128kb/s bad good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 160kb/s ------------------------------------------------------------------- 192kb/s good ------------------------------------------------------------------- 224kb/s ------------------------------------------------------------------- 256kb/s ------------------------------------------------------------------- 320kb/s -------------------------------------------------------------------

it is sad that you've had to resort to such a table. however, great work! It's super helpful.

56kbps - 44,1kHz => good
Anyway Gerrit I think it depends on the flash player version or maybe the plugin for the browser. Because I have problems in some webs but other people told me they are ok.

16kbps - 11.025 => good
vbr seems to be always bad

Yea, maybe. But let’s keep on collecting some values to gain more information. For now it seems like it does only depend on the frequency rate, right? :-)

Any clue as to how to force Audacity to export a compliant MP3? I have a clip sampled at 44kHz and when I export to 56kbps the sample rate seems to drop to 33kHz on the final clip.

64kbps - 44.100kHz
"good"

Ich benutze Audacity und weiß nicht wo ich die kb/s einstelle.
Könntet ihr mir helfen?
Vielen Dank.
